All television broadcast signals will be digital by Feb. 2009.  Are you looking to kick your old set to the curb and buy a shiny new plasma or LCD?  You’re not alone.  The increase in unwanted old tube televisions is expected to skyrocket in the next 6 to 12 months as retailers put on killer sales of new sets heading into the holidays.

The ultimate green thing to do is to keep using your old set with a digital converter box.   If you choose to get rid of your old set, you can not put it on the curb with your trash.   TVs contain hazardous components and can not be put into the landfill, so Republic Services will not pick them up.  But you can drop them off at Republic’s reycyling center on certain days of the month.
